Welcome to vibrant Chicago, your new home! As you move in and get settled in your new digs at Arc at Old Colony, we recommend taking some time to get out and about and learn about the Windy City. The more you explore, the more you’ll love “our kind of town.” Here are some ways to get started.
Chicago Architecture Center Tours
The nonprofit Chicago Architecture Center on Wacker Drive puts on a range of tours that highlight the city and its history through architecture. Their most popular tour is the river cruise, but we also like their Must-See Chicago walking tour, which is less expensive ($30) and gives a great overview of Chicago’s structural icons.
Head just a few blocks West of Arc at Old Colony to find one of the most iconic skyscrapers in Chicago and home to The Skydeck Experience. At nearly $40, the ticket to get to the 103rd floor isn’t cheap, but if you’re a thrill-seeker (and not afraid of heights), standing on their glass “Ledge” hanging over the city is pretty cool. Make sure you check out the interactive Chicago experience before heading up. It’s a cool way to get an overview of some of the historic highlights of the city.
The Chicago History Museum
Hop a bus North to the Gold Coast and check out the Chicago History Museum. Learn about the Great Chicago Fire and other notable moments in the city’s history. Afterward, you can take a stroll through Lincoln Park and visit the oldest zoo in the city. If you stretch your visit to evening, make sure to catch a show at The Second City, Chicago’s famous sketch comedy club.
From world-class museums to amazing festivals, there really is no end to the fun and exciting things happening in Chicago, and your spot at Arc at Old Colony puts you right in the center of it all. For more great stuff in and around the Loop, keep your eye on our blog.
